Moriz Jung (1885 – 1915) est un artiste né dans l’actuelle Tchéquie (à l’époque l’Empire austro-hongrois) qui va faire partie du courant artistique Wiener Werkstätte, réalisant affiches, caricatures, estampes… Il meurt sur le front à l’âge de trente ans.
Ce que l’on trouve sur le Web de son travail montre un étrange mélange de rigueur dans le trait, une composition façon Sécession et une ironie décalée.

C’est étrange comme le jeu, le contraste de la couleur marié à l’épaisseur de la ligne m’ont fait spontanément penser aux couvertures de (A suivre…).

Peut-être à cause de la palette réduite de couleurs des couvertures À Suivre (dans mes souvenirs).
J’aime bien l’aspect stylisé de certains dessins. Sans doute le côté Sécession. L’ironie discrète n’est pas pour me déplaire non plus. J’ai l’impression qu’il y avait un sacré filon à Prague.
Allemagne, Autriche/Hongrie. Plein de dessinateurs hyper doués et en fait bien plus affûtés que leurs homologues Français à mon avis – bon, ça circulait un peu, mais quand même. Pas d’équivalent au Simplicissimus en France d’un point de vue qualité graphique. En France, on fait de l’AAAART, môssieur.
