Les couvertures d’Eric Parker pour Sexton Blake m’avaient enthousiasmé (voir le billet ici) et j’ai découvert avec ravissement des images provenant de son atelier et publiés sur le blog Boys Adventure Comics. Recherches, esquisses, carnets de voyage, une plongée sur les coulisses de l’artiste, quelque chose d’assez rare au final. On dirait de précieux parchemins conservés par miracle à travers les décennies…Un émouvant témoignage d’une époque laissé par un artiste en pleine maîtrise de son art
Il a l’air d’avoir été toujours aussi bon. Mais c’est difficile de se faire une idée vue de France. On n’a pas accès à l’ensemble de son œuvre.

Il y a quelque chose de touchant, oui,à la vue de ces précieux documents…
C’est vrai qu’on se demande ce que ces petits vieux fricottent.

Sexton Blake ? Je ne connaissais pas le personnage. Apparemment, il a été aussi adapté en série télé.
J’adore ces couvertures. Une espèce de sous Sherlock. Il a été très populaire en Grande-Bretagne visiblement, mais ça manquait probablement trop de génie pour contaminer le reste du monde.
